The latest trend to hit the brunch and breakfast scene is the Acai Bowls. This super-fruit is getting lot of attention. Found in the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil. And now they’ve hit the US and Canadian market with a vengeance. This is a super healthy anti-oxidant rich fruit. They come in juice, powder, frozen pulp and capsule forms.
I found ours in the Organic Frozen foods section at our local grocery store. They come in individual pouches for quick and easy preparation. There is just something so magical about eating this delicious “smoothie” with a spoon. The Acai bowls look and taste like ice cream and who doesn’t love that! Trust me…the addiction is crazy. We love doing these on the weekend and now we’ve started to do them during the week cause their super easy to make.
Follow below for step-by-step instructions….
Take one pouch and run it under water for 5-10 seconds. Open pouch and place in your blender. We have a Vitamix but any blender will do.
Next up the liquid. My husband loves almond milk but you can use regular milk, coconut milk, and juices. Use ½ cup liquid.
Add your fruit. ½ cup of each. We love all types of berries, frozen is best here. Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, strawberry, banana, papaya, kiwi, pineapple. The options and combinations are endless. Blend till incorporated.
Place your blend into a bowl or a cup if you’re doing a smoothie. We love to add fresh fruit at this point, granola, nuts, chia seeds, coconut flakes, dried berries whatever your heart desires do that!
Grab a spoon and dig in! The kids love it too and they love to get involved!!! Usually when they help make it. They eat it.
We love the bulk barn because you can pick up a ton of stuff and everyone can choose what they want to put in their bowls/smoothies for toppings.
